Pettit FD BOV Upgrade
Pettit Racing Billet BOV
Our new Blow Off Valve kit is quickly becoming
one of our top selling upgrades for the RX7 twin turbo, Our new
design incorporates a full 1" discharge port which helps keep your
turbo's spooled longer between shifts as well as improving boost
response time, it is a vast improvement over the stock part
which only has a small discharge port (5/8"). Another benefit from
our kit is better surge protection and reduced thrust loading which
has proven to lengthen turbo bearing life. Most original vales are
12-15 years old and not working properly, many heat cycles causes
the diaphragm to harden and impair valve operation as well as
response time. The new Pettit BOV is completely CNC machined from
billet aluminum and utilizes dual o-ring’s to seal the piston (No
diaphragm to fail like the stock part) Our kit is a direct
replacement for the stock inefficient plastic Valve and installs in
well under 30 min. Finished in black hard anodizing. Lifetime
Warranty.
Why do I need it:
Most factory plastic valves are at least 14
years old and are usually are not operating properly, our valve is
designed with a full 1" dump port (stock is 5/8") providing far
better surge protection than the stock part, turbo surge can cause
excessive thrust load and wear to the twin turbo unit resulting in
premature failure of the unit.
Operation:
The blow-off-valve is controlled by a vacuum
hose connected to the intake manifold after the throttle plate. When
the throttle is closed, manifold vacuum instantly "sucks" the blow
off valve open allowing boost pressure from the turbocharger to vent
in the atmosphere, this is what makes the discharge air sound. under
load boost pressure over spring tension holds the valve positively
shut so you get all the intended boost .
